So Josiah's surgery for his testes will be on Dec. 15th. At that time we will also get an MRI on is head and lumbar spine. He is supposed to go home the same day just on tylenol for pain. I pray that is the case for Josiah. He seems to be slower with everything than a typical child.

His heart is still doing exactly the same (not better... but not worse either). His kidneys were the same size at this most recent appointment as the one before. We were expecting them to be smaller so we will just continue to monitor them.
He can roll, but doesn't roll often. He is not quite sitting up, but is very close to doing so. He shares a room with Iylah and is almost sleeping through the night (about 7 hrs straight). Before I had to wake him up to eat because he needed the calories but would not wake up
on his own. So it is a really good thing that his is waking up on his own to eat when he feels hungry. He definitely needs the calories still. He weighs 12 lbs. 7 oz. He is eating solids now, but has trouble with textures of food (this is one of the things we are working on with his occupational therapist). He is not quite babbling yet, but he coos often. He is doing great with his glasses now!! He used to hate them, but now I think he actually enjoys being able to see better. H
e smiles all the time :). He giggles often too. Overall, I feel like he is really engaging socially now and is so much happier. We can go places without him crying constantly from over stimulation. He
smiles at people and before he used to cry everytime anyone other than me, Craig or Iylah talked to him.He will be 1 year old in just two months!!! That is so crazy! I try not to have expectations on his development because I just don't know when he will be able to do things like sitting, crawling, walking, etc. Often times I miss the little steps in h
is development because everything is happening so slowly compared to Iylah. Lately I have been trying so hard to notice those small things. If you all could pray that Josiah will grow lots before this surgery (so he can handle anesthesia better). Pray that nothing abnormal will show up in his MRI's. Pray for
peace for me and Craig. I am so fearful of going to the hospital. I dread it. Pray for steady hands for the surgeon. I really trust Josiah's urologist (he will be doing this surgery). When Josiah was in the NICU, he came in nearly every day to check on him after surgery. He really cares. Thanks for all the support and prayers. I figured out how to adjust the settings on the blog so that anyone can comment on the posts. We appreciated your words of com

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to thank you guys so much for keeping us updated on what is going on in your lives.
Iylah is just gorgeous. I can't believe she is so big.
Josiah is just so beautiful. I think he looks like his daddy.
We have you guys in our prayers every single day.
God has a plan for us all. Just don't understand what his plan is sometime.
God is with little Josiah at all times. I know his surgery will be guided by God's hands.
We have to have alot of FAITH. Sometime that is so hard.
On Dec 15TH God will be with all of you.
We love all of you so much
God Bless all of you

Thank you for the update, you have the most adorable kids. I can't believe how big they are getting. I will keep you all in my constant prayers. Keep posting pictures, I love them :)
ReplyDeleteWhen you start to get discouraged about how slow you feel like his progress is, just remember how quickly it went with Iylah and how much you felt like you missed things because it was all happening so fast. God has given you Josiah and with him, you'll get to watch those momentous occasions with even more anticipation and you'll get to enjoy each one for longer before the next one comes. Remember, the glass is half full! :) We're praying for him and all of you always.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the updates Cherie, we are keeping Josiah and your family in our prayers. The pics are great! It is so nice to see the sweet smile on Josiah's face.
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Kelsey, BrannDon, and Cecelia
