Eye Surgery... Check

Eye surgery is over... for now at least.  And we are still hopeful that it will be successful.  I am uncertain as to when we will know if another eye surgery is needed, but for now it is checked off!

Josiah started the day off well and actually liked his first nurse in pre-op.  He usually gets apprehensive from the start and doesn't want to look at anyone besides us.  He began getting nervous when more people in blue were coming into the room.  We took him back to the OR where the anesthesiologist put Josiah under while he was in my lap.  Although Josiah was not happy... he did better in my lap.  The surgery followed the normal routine... which the ophthalmologist said was good.  The anesthesiologist was very careful with the amount of narcotics that Josiah was given because he is so sensitive to drugs.  The anesthesiologist we had today was my favorite!  He communicated well, didn't get annoyed with questions, took extra time to read literature about Noonan Syndrome (the night before and in the pre-op room just prior to surgery), and kept checking up on Josiah after the surgery.  He jokingly said that he was OCD, which I liked :).

For about 5 hours after surgery Josiah would sleep, wake up to cry in confusion, throw up, and then fall back asleep.  His tears were bloody and his eyes were swollen shut.  There was a short period where they were thinking about keeping us over night.  But be were thankful to be home by 2pm!  Once we started leaving the room Josiah instantly began relaxing.  He just does SO much better at home, in a familiar place (although at this point I would think the hospital would seem pretty familiar too).  After taking two long naps at home, he was asking to see Iylah.  By dinner time he was eating dinner and giggling at Iylah.

Praise God for protecting Josiah!  While we were in pre-op, I was praying that God would protect him.  I was worried about Josiah.  I just love him so very much!  Then I realized that God's love for my little angel FAR exceeds any amount of love I could ever give him.  Really he is not my child, he is God's.  Even though my eyes could not be on him through each stage of surgery and I could not hold his hand through it all, God was carrying him the whole time!!  What a comforting feeling!  Thank you for all the prayers!

I will upload more pictures later, but here is one taken from our phone.... heartbreaking to say the least!

This was when he first really opened his eyes. It was when we were leaving.  I can't hardly bear to look at this picture!
