We went back to Children's Hospital early morning on April 17th. We stayed there for 2 nights which seemed like a few weeks. You would think after living at a hospital for 2 1/2 months that 2 nights would be nothing. We think that Josiah caught a stomach bug because early morning on Friday he began throwing up. It only lasted about 7 hours but that was too much for his little body to handle. At Children's they gave him an IV with fluids. He never had a fever and no one else that he has been around was ever sick. He is doing well again and back to normal... his normal of course.
While Craig and I were there we realized how good we are getting at being home nursing care for Josiah. Every night we place the feeding tube down Josiah's nose and into his tummy. Everyday I dread doing it... but after watching the nurses do it when we went back to the hospital, I felt very confident about our "mad tube placing skills". We learned from the best of course, the nurses in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We were on a different floor with different nurses for the last stay at the hospital. Most nights Josiah does not even make a peep when we place the tube. It was a different story when those nurses were placing it :(. Josiah was screaming bloody murder the whole time and it took them 10 times longer to get the tube down than it takes us. He takes tube feedings at night while he is sleeping and then nurses during the day. He is still on oxygen but we are weening him off of it currently :) He seems too need it more while sleeping and feeding. When we take him off of the oxygen he looks SO cute with out tubes on his face.
As a family we are doing well. Some days are harder than others... little Josiah requires so much of our attention we are learning to manage life and two little ones. This trial as definitely brought Craig and I a billion times closer. I guess that is what the "Big Man" upstairs had planned out. To actually experience that unique closeness , really is a blessing... we have only been married 3 years (almost 4) and we so far have experienced more than some couples experience in a life time. I will consider that a true blessing.
Thank you for the prayers... keep them coming because He keeps on answering.
